Dental bonding ‘alternative to porcelain veneers’

Cracked, discoloured or chipped teeth can be repaired with dental bonding at a cosmetic dentistry clinic, it has been reported.

Beverly Hills cosmetic dentist Dr Steven Goldy explained that bonding can correct misaligned teeth, giving the patient a straighter smile.

He stated that it is "quick, affordable, relatively painless and long lasting", but requires the artistic ability of a cosmetic dentist to achieve.

Dentists layer a composite resin onto the tooth in a shade which matches the patient’s original teeth, he explained, which is then hardened with a high-intensity light.

The tooth is then sculpted and polished to achieve a comfortable and natural-looking result, Dr Goldy added.

"You need both art and science to produce the best result," he said.

Dr Goldy claimed that bonding with composite resin can be considered as a cheaper alternative to porcelain veneers in some cases.

A Mintel survey found that women in their late 40s and early 50s are the most common cosmetic dentistry patients.ADNFCR-1374-ID-18583148-ADNFCR
