Dartmouth Dentists Brave the Atlantic for Charity Rowing Challenge

Sample News Big

A dental duo from Dartmouth is preparing to embark on a transatlantic challenge for charity. Fresh Dental Health Care’s Justin Marney and Azud Irshad will be rowing across the ocean to raise money for Rowcroft Hospice.

The team will take on the unpredictable conditions of the stormy ocean waters and row more than 3,000 nautical miles to raise as much money as possible for the local hospice. The charity is close to both of the dentists’ hearts and they are hoping to collect as many donations as possible.

Rowcroft Hospice provides valuable care and support to patients with terminal and life-limiting illnesses as well as caring for their families through very difficult times. Each dentist has their own reasons for supporting the hospice, which is run on donations.

To conquer the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge, the duo will be setting off from La Gomera and ending their journey in Antigua. The record time stands at 37  days, but this was set by a team of four. Although they may not break any records, Justin and Azud are focused on collecting as much money as possible for the hospice and they’ll give every day their best shot. The journey could take up to two months in total.
