Councillors are set to approve plans to create a new health and dental centre in Blackburn.

The proposal has been put forward by brothers Mohsin and Zuber Issa and relates to the site previously occupied by St Peter’s church on the corner of Wainwright Way and Freckleton Street.

The plan is to build a new three-storey facility, which would house a dental practice as well as offering optician and hearing services. The state-of-the-art centre would have fourteen consulting rooms.

The site is currently vacant and the Issa brothers are hoping to get the green light to build a modern, purpose-built health complex, which would provide essential services for residents. The three-storey building would have two access points on Freckleton Street and would offer parking for up to 35 vehicles split across two car parks.

The planning statement, which accompanies the application, provides detailed information about the design of the building. The facility is described as a modern health complex, which would constitute a ‘statement piece of architecture.’

The plans are set to be discussed at an upcoming council meeting, with councillors from Blackburn with Darwen Council expected to approve the proposals.
If approved, the project will create at least ten new jobs.
