Council to reject plans for dental practice relocation in Sleaford

North Kesteven District Council is set to reject plans for a dental practice relocation in Sleaford, Lincolnshire.

The owner of Clover House Dental Practice submitted plans to move the existing practice to larger premises on the outskirts of town close to Valley Gate. The relocation would have allowed the practice to increase its capacity and hire new members of staff.

North Kesteven District Council has recommended that the plans are rejected because the proposed site is used primarily for industrial purposes.

The council has made a decision despite the fact that the application attracted support from local residents. Almost 30 letters were received in support of the project, which would provide additional dental places at a time when the demand for dental services is growing in the area.

One resident wrote that it was incredibly difficult to get a dental appointment and described the proposed location of the practice as “perfect” because it is easily accessible and close to other businesses. Lincolnshire is one of the worst-affected areas in terms of dental access and it has become increasingly difficult to find a practice taking on new patients.

The council report suggests that the dental clinic would not fit within an area that is used by industrial businesses. The report also raised concerns over the distance of the site from the town centre.

A final decision will be made by the planning committee on January 17th.

The plans describe a purpose-built clinic, which has three treatment rooms in addition to a decontamination suite and space for scanning equipment.
