A study carried out by Oral B revealed that participants believed that people with a healthy looking white smile are more successful than those with a less attractive smile.

Participants believed that people with an attractive smile earned an average of £10,000 more than those with unhealthy looking smiles. Respondents also revealed that a nice smile doubled the likelihood of someone having attended private school or university.

Dr David Carr, a dental expert who appeared on Channel 4’s 10 Years Younger makeover over, said that a healthy, bright smile improves your chances of professional success, as well as increasing your appeal to potential partners. Dr Carr as a host of celebrity clients and he said that he is seeing a growing number of professional men and women who want to improve the aesthetic of their smile in a bid to improve their chances of getting a job, securing a promotion or improving their performance at work.

Dr Carr also noted that there has been a shift in the perception of the perfect smile, with many patients opting for a much more natural look than the bright white Hollywood smile, which became the look du jour in the 1990’s and early noughties.
