Cosmetic Dentistry Boom is Good News for Dentists

Sample News Big

Growing interest in cosmetic dentistry is increasing revenue for UK dentists, according to financial experts.

In the last 12 months, the leading 100 dental firms took almost a billion pounds before operating costs were factored in and their income has increased by almost a quarter in the last four years.

The positive news has been attributed to the fact that more and more people are willing to pay for a perfect smile, with cosmetic dentistry spending going from strength to strength. Treatments such as laser tooth whitening, smile design and cosmetic braces, have become particularly popular.

Peter Alderson, managing director of LDF, said that UK consumers have really bought into cosmetic dentistry and this has contributed to rising salaries for private dentists and increased incomes for leading dental chains. People are willing to pay hundreds, even thousands, of pounds in order for their smile to look attractive and many are prepared to pay a premium to be offered cutting-edge treatment in a modern and stylish environment.

The increased turnover in certain areas of dentistry has also lead to an increase in the number of dental practices and expansion amongst existing chains and groups. Some chains now own and operate more than 400 offices.

The most recent figures show that there are now more than 200 dentists who earn more than £300,000 per year working in the UK.
