Concerns raised as residents in Harrogate and Knaresborough struggle to find NHS dental places

Sample News Big

Concerns over accessibility to NHS dental service have been raised after it was revealed that there are currently no NHS dental practices in Knaresborough or Harrogate accepting new adult patients.

According to the NHS Choices website, none of the fifteen dental practices listed are currently taking on new NHS dental patients, meaning that new patients and those who are looking to change practice are facing a wait for dental treatment.

Some practices are informing people that patients will only be accepted following a referral, while others have been told that they can join a waiting list, but it could take months to get an appointment. Patients have been advised that private dental places are available, and at some practices, appointments will be available from December. Some clinics are offering child places, but in some cases, places are limited to orthodontic patients.
