A Tennessee prison inmate has been given $95,000 in compensation after a guard tore his gold teeth out.

Anthony McCoy, who was serving a term in Davidson County Jail, was caused permanent damage when the teeth were forcibly removed.

The incident began when Lieutenant Tanya Mayhew told McCoy to take out his gold teet

The inmate told the guard that he couldn’t as they were permanently attached so she ripped them out by hand.

McCoy’s attorney David Raybin said that his client was left spitting blood and teeth into a bin and then was made to get back in line.

Raybin also claimed that the enamel was torn from four of McCoy’s normal teeth and that he was just provided with Tylenol to help him cope with the pain.

A dentist was finally contacted for McCoy five days later.

He had to have $10,000s-worth of dental treatment to repair his mouth.

Mayhew received a five-day suspension and was demoted for her part in the incident.
