Colosseum Dental submits plans to turn Yeovil restaurant into a new dental clinic

Dental chain, Colosseum Dental, has submitted plans to turn a former restaurant in Yeovil into a new dental clinic.

The firm, which runs practices across Somerset and Dorset, has sought permission to change the use of the premises in Princes Street into a new surgery. The unit was previously occupied by Prezzo Italian restaurant. The restaurant closed in April last year, and the premises have been empty since.

Colosseum Dental already has a dental practice on the High Street in Yeovil, and it is unclear whether the new surgery will act as a second clinic or whether the firm is planning to relocate.

Associate director of CBRE, the firm acting on behalf of Colosseum Dental and planning agent, Dealfield Limited, Philip Marsden, stressed that the change of use would breathe new life into the area, increasing footfall and providing valuable health services for Yeovil residents.

If the plans are given the green light, the surgery will be the second new business to open in the town centre in recent weeks. On the 13th June, a new Dunelm store opened in Quedam Shopping Centre, replacing the vacant unit previously occupied by BHS.

The application will now be reviewed by planning officers at South Somerset District Council.
