The annual Colgate Oral Health Month campaign will run throughout September, it has been confirmed.

Oral Health Month is supported by the British Dental Association and is the UK’s most high-profile oral health campaign. The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness of oral health and encourage communication between dentists and patients.

This year’s theme is ‘The Importance of a Good Oral Care Regime for a Healthy Mouth’ and it will aim to educate people about oral hygiene and encourage them to brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, avoid sugary food and drinks and avoid brushing for an hour after eating or drinking acidic or sugary foods or drinks, as this could damage the enamel.

The Colgate road show will visit various venues across the country throughout September and dental hygienists and therapists will be on hand to offer oral hygiene tips.

The first nine thousand dental practices to register to take part in the campaign will also receive dental packs; the packs contain educational information, patient samples and posters for practices to display.
