Chocolate that Can Prevent Tooth Decay

A retired dentist has created a sugarless chocolate bar that both tastes good, and at the same time fights tooth decay.
The sugarless treat was created by Dr Maurice White in Australia and is designed to prevent food becoming trapped between teeth.
As well as offering consumers a tasteful treat the Sweet William chocolate bar also promises to stop food acids building up and cavities occurring.
Sweet William creator, Dr White said: “Every food you eat gets caught between teeth and in the grooves.
“Ninety-five per cent of food is trapped between teeth, but 80 per cent of cavities occur in the teeth’s grooves.”
A small amount of the chocolate is advised to be eaten befor and after a meal and will act as a shield against food acid
Dr Whiote added: “It is best eaten before anything sweet like cakes and lollies. You only need to eat a small amount and it gets in the spaces and grooves, helping to prevent decay.”
The chocolate, which is also suitable for diabetics is advised to be used from an early age as part of a childs teeth cleaning regime.
Chocolate taster, Tristan Boulton, 13, said: “I love chocolate and this tasted a little different, but still really nice.”
Although the chocolate willl go a long way to preventing tooth decay and fighting cavities, regular teeth cleaning and flossing should still be completed.
