Chingford Dental Team Completes 10k Walk for Mouth Cancer Charity

Sample News Big

Members of staff from Chingford Mount Dental Practice have completed a 10 kilometre walk in Hyde Park to raise money for the Mouth Cancer Foundation.

Doctor Raj Gogna was joined by members of the Chingford Mount team to take on the Mouth Cancer Awareness Walk, which took place in Hyde Park last month; a twin event took place in Melbourne and the proceeds of both walks were donated to the Mouth Cancer Foundation.

The Chingford Mount Dental Practice raised more than £1,000 for the charity, which raises awareness of mouth cancer and supports individuals and families affected by mouth cancer.

Mouth cancer is becoming increasingly common in the UK; however, awareness of the disease is still relatively poor and many people are unaware of the symptoms and signs they should look out for, which means that most cases are not diagnosed until an advanced stage. The Mouth Cancer Foundation works to educate people about mouth cancer so that they are aware of the causes and risk factors and the symptoms and they realise how important it is to see a dentist on a regular basis; early detection can improve survival rates by up to 90 per cent.
