A Chicago charity hosted a day of free dental check-ups for local musicians.

MusicCares organised for 26 musicians to get oral health tune-ups at the offices of the American Federation of Musicians (AFM).

A dental team from Mobile Dentist of Farmington Hills in Michigan, treating four patients every hour.

This was the second year that MusicCares, who offer support to musicians for basic living costs and medical expenses, has organised the free dental clinic.

D’Ana Hamilton, who is a jazz singer-songwriter, participated in the clinic and said that dental health affects your vocal cords.

She added that good oral health was important for staying in tune and claimed that poor dental health can affect your overall wellbeing.

MusicCares selects which musicians they offer care to by screening them on a number of factors including financial status, dental and medical insurance status, and the amount of time spent in the industry.
