Cheshire Schoolchildren Brush Up on Dental Hygiene

Sample News Big

Children from Egerton Primary School in Knutsford, Cheshire, have been brushing up on oral hygiene to celebrate National Smile Month.

Year three pupils were invited to attend a dental hygiene workshop run by local practice, Beyond Dental Care. Dental hygienist, Diane Rochford, taught the class of 28 about teeth cleaning, healthy eating and the causes and symptoms of tooth decay during a fun, informal and interactive session, which formed part of the children’s studies on healthy living.

Diane, from Beyond Dental Care in Bexton Lane, said that the aim of the session was to teach children about why it is so important for them to look after their teeth and gums, and added that talking to children in a familiar environment helps to banish the thought that going to the dentist is scary.

Class teacher, Mr Hilldrup, said that the children enjoyed the session and it was a great way to get a serious message across.
