Mason Mount could miss England’s upcoming qualifiers to undergo dental treatment, Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel revealed.

The Chelsea midfielder has missed a couple of games recently after suffering an infected wisdom tooth. Despite the fact that he came on as a substitute in the 1-1 draw with Burnley on Saturday 6th November, Mount could miss England’s upcoming fixtures to undergo treatment.

In a pre-match press conference, Tuchel explained that Mount had missed training and some games, including the Champions League match against Malmo, due to an infected tooth, which required treatment.

He had been struggling with pain and was taking medication but the Chelsea manager suggested that he could miss the World Cup qualifiers in the next week to have treatment to rectify the problem.

England are due to play Andorra and San Marino on the 12th and 15th November respectively. Mount has been named in Gareth Southgate’s squad but could be replaced if he needs to stay at home to have dental treatment.

Wisdom tooth infections are relatively common and some people need to have the teeth extracted because they become impacted.

This is usually because the teeth are the last to develop and there is often a shortage of space, which causes the teeth to grow at an angle.

Impacted, infected wisdom teeth can cause severe pain, and usually, the best course of action is to treat the infection or consider removing the affected tooth.
