Bupa Dental Care has confirmed that its Oakley Vale practice in Corby will close on June 30th.

The company, which is planning to shut, sell or merge almost ninety clinics across the UK, has notified patients that the practice in Butland Road will close at the end of June. The closure is part of a nationwide programme to reduce the number of Bupa practices, which has been announced due to recruitment issues.

Bupa Dental Care recently revealed that it was closing 85 of its clinics across the country due to challenges in the industry and ongoing difficulties finding dental staff, particularly NHS dentists.

The Oakley Vale practice in Corby serves thousands of people and many have already expressed concerns about finding a new dentist. Patients have been informed that any appointments booked for July and onwards have been cancelled.

Representatives from Bupa Dental Care said that it was no longer possible to keep all the of chain’s practices up and running with staff shortages, rising costs and industry-wide challenges making it difficult to ensure patients receive the required level of care.

Patients who have appointments scheduled before the end of June should attend as normal, the practice team has confirmed.

News of the impending closure has angered Labour candidate for the next election, Lee Barron, who said that the country is facing a dental crisis. He added that dental access is now is one of the most common issues raised by residents during canvassing rounds.
