Members of staff and patients at a Bulwell dental practice have bid a fond farewell to dental nurse, Joan Lee, after an amazing 45 years of service.

Joan has worked at Carberry Surgery since 1968 and recently decided to retire.  Her colleagues organised a party last Friday to send her off in style and thank her for all her hard work over the years.

John Carberry, who established the surgery in 1964, paid tribute to Joan and said that it was an incredible achievement to have spent so long at one practice. John retired after working 39 years at the practice.

John’s son, James, a dental surgeon at the practice, also praised Joan’s achievements and said that she was a wonderful nurse who had made a difference to hundreds of patients. James said that Joan is admired by colleagues and patients and added that everyone wishes her well for the future.

Joan is from Bulwell and now lives in Wollaton with her husband, Michael.

Joan and her family attended the farewell party on Friday; the practice team bought her gifts including gardening vouchers and a bouquet of flowers and she is looking forward to enjoying a well-earned rest. The party was originally due to take place earlier this year, but had to be postponed after Joan suffered a fall and required treatment for a blood clot in her leg.
