An incredibly brave and determined dentist has completed a gruelling Ironman challenge to raise money for a dementia charity. Coombe Dental Care’s Belinda Vohra completed the 70.3 mile Ironman Exmoor triathlon last weekend (Sunday 26th June).

Belinda decided to take on the challenge to raise funds for a cause very close to her heart. The Alzheimer’s Society has provided support for Belinda’s mother and the rest of the family over the past few years, and she wanted to do something to give back and raise awareness of the charity and the amazing work it does to help people suffering from dementia.

The triathlon comprised of a 1.2 mile swim, a 56-mile cycle ride and a 13-mile half marathon. Belinda crossed the line, visibly elated, after 8 hours and 14 minutes.

So far, Belinda has raised over £700 for the charity, and she is hoping to increase the amount now that she has taken on and conquered the gauntlet.

Belinda said that the charity had been amazingly helpful and supportive not just for her mum, but also for her and her family members. Dementia is an issue that affect thousands of families all over the country, and it can be incredibly tough to cope. Charities like the Alzheimer’s Society provide valuable support, advice and guidance for families like Belinda’s all over the UK.

Belinda took part in the triathlon with fellow members of Salisbury Tri Club.
