A dental team from Bradford has been left devastated after thieves broke into the practice and stole presents and donations for local foodbanks.

The team at Taylored Dental Care in Wibsey Bank had been collecting donations and gifts for children for months. The practice was targeted by thieves over the course of the weekend of 16th-18th December. Burglars took around 70 of the 170 presents staff had collected, as well as cash from the safe, an iPad and three bottles of Champagne.

Everyone at the practice was shocked to hear the news, which broke when a cleaner visited the premises on Sunday 18th December to find the window smashed and the practice left in a state. The team had been planning to distribute the gifts to local foodbanks this week.

Practice manager, Amy McMahon, said that she was incredibly sad about the situation and gutted that children and those who are really struggling to make ends meet this Christmas will miss out due to the selfish actions of the thieves who broke into the surgery.

People have been donating gifts at three practices in the area since August and the team had collected a huge pile of presents that would have put smiles on a lot of faces.
The collection closes on Thursday 22nd December. After the break-in, staff members issued an urgent plea for anyone who could to help out to donate extra gifts to make up for the lost items. The team stressed that it was a difficult time, which means that many people wouldn’t be able to help but asked anyone who would like to help out to come forward. Even small presents can make a big difference to local families.

West Yorkshire Police force is now investigating the incident. Officers have encouraged anyone who may have information about the robbery to contact them by calling 101 and quoting the reference number 13220692361.
