Bradford Dental Anxiety Specialist Available To Help Children

The Bradford District Care Trust is offering help for nervous children to enable them to visit the dentist without experiencing anxiety and worry.

The trust, which is based in Saltaire, is providing anxious children with specialist help from professionals who are trained to care for patients with dental anxiety. Figures show that most people experience a degree of anxiety when they go the dentist, but around a quarter of people suffer from serious anxiety.

Specialist Frank Soldani will be available to talk to children and parents about ways of coping with anxiety and he will also explain the different kinds of help and support available for nervous children.

The trust is already making a difference to children in the local area; a mother of a child who recently had a cavity filled said that she was unable to take her child to a regular dentist because they were extremely anxious; the child’s regular dentist referred the child to the trust for specialist care. The child was treated at the trust by specialist dentists and the mother was very happy with the care the child received; her daughter visited the trust several times and the dentists prepared her for treatment by explaining what would happen, why she needs treatment and how the treatment would help her.

Specialists at the trust aim to provide care for anxious patients, as well as preparing them for dental work in the future; children who learn to cope with anxiety are more likely to visit a dentist on a regular basis in the future, which will reduce their risk of developing oral health problems.

The trust will be holding two talks on the subject of the type of support available for nervous children on April 18th from 1.30pm and 3.00pm and 6.00pm and 7.30pm. To book a place, parents are advised to contact 01274 363 401.
