Boxer Amir Khan Tests Out Local Firm’s Piranha Guard Gum Shield
Bolton boxer, Amir Khan is supporting local business by trying out Piranha Guard’s range of gum shields.
Piranha Guard, based in Lowton, manufactures custom-made gum shields, which are hand-made by highly skilled dental technicians. The mouth guard is currently undergoing rigorous testing thanks to a trial programme conducted by champion boxer, Khan.
Amir Khan recently got back in the ring after taking a break from boxing; he said that he had time to “take stock” of his career and he also changed trainers. When he was approached by Piranha Guard, he decided to give it a go, as he was questioning the product he had previously used and admitted to being slightly “naïve” about the impact a gum shield can make on performance.
Managing director of Piranha Guard, Simon Nixon, said that it was a huge honour to have Amir Khan on board and the fact that he agreed to test the range of mouth guards shows just how important a mouth guard is in the world of boxing and sporting performance.
