There was a 51 per cent rise in Botox treatments last year, a new survey has found.

According to research by Harley Medical Group, there has also been a 32 per cent rise in the number of surgical enquiries in the first two weeks of January, compared to the corresponding period one year ago.

To fund the treatments, ten per cent of those polled are working overtime, 33 per cent are saving up and 21 per cent are relying on loans from family members.

Liz Dale, director of the group, said there was an increasing trend of patients booking multiple appointments as their treatments were a regular part of their life.

"Non-surgical treatments are no longer seen as a luxury, more as part of their normal beauty rejuvenation and maintenance programme," she added.

The Daily Mail recently reported that a new cheaper and longer-lasting alternative to Botox has entered the market.
