Borough Green dentist shares details of new procedures as patients return

A Borough Green dentist has shared details of new procedures and guidelines, as patients return for appointments in England.

Dr Aviva Riley, from Fourways Dental Surgery, has enforced a raft of measures to protect staff and patients, as England’s dental practices emerge from the lockdown. As part of new policies, Dr Riley has invested heavily in PPE and all patients will be required to call from the park before their appointment so that their temperature can be checked, and a risk assessment carried out before they enter the surgery. After invasive procedures, all staff will be required to leave the premises for an hour to allow for deep cleaning.

Some dentists have criticised the government for providing just 10 days’ notice before practices were given the green light, but Dr Riley stated that her team has been preparing for months and was ready and raring to go. There is a system in place to prevent two patients from being in close contact at any given time and appointment numbers will be restricted initially.

Dr Riley admitted that she has probably gone ‘over the top,’ but added that it is always ‘better to be safe than sorry.’ The past few weeks have been very busy for the team, and it hasn’t been easy to adjust to the new way of working, but everyone is relishing being back at work and seeing patients again.
