A dentist from Bolton is aiming to brush aside the competition in her Great Britain heat for Miss Universe.

Zara Ramsey-Nortley, 26, is preparing to take part in the three-day event in June, which will be used to select Great Britain’s representatives in the international competition. The heat will take place in Cardiff and competitors will partake in a catwalk show and empowerment day before facing judges from the worlds of beauty and fashion.

Zara, who spends her days working as a dentist at Synergy Dental Clinics, is taking the opportunity to raise money for charity by competing in the event. She is fundraising for Strongbones Charitable Trust, a charity that supports the families of children affected by bone disorders. Zara is also hoping to raise awareness of Project Code Red, which provides hygiene products for women living in poverty and difficult conditions. She is a proud ambassador of the charity and hopes to promote its profile.

Zara said that she is incredibly excited about competing in the Miss Universe British heats and she is really looking forward to the heats in June. She has already beaten off tough competition to get to this stage of the selection process and she now wants to go all the way to the Miss Universe final, which is set to take place an unnamed exotic destination towards the end of the year. Zara claims that the competition has taken her out of her comfort zone and really helped her to build confidence. Now, she is determined to do her country proud and set the competition alight.

As well as getting the chance to compete in the final, the winner of the Great Britain heat will also receive a collection of designer clothes and swimwear, jewellery and a fantastic holiday to Bali.
