The team from Blake Lapthorn has been given the job of acting for the General Dental Council in its Fitness to Practise cases. The 3-year contract started on the 1st of December and is the eighth time the firm has been called to help healthcare regulators, providing work for the General Pharmaceutical Council, Association for Accounting Technicians, the General Teaching Council and the Institute for learning, among others.

The leader of the Black Lapthorn team, Nick Leale, was very happy with the firm’s win, after an already great year and said, “This is a wonderful opportunity for the team to develop a relationship with the one healthcare regulator for whom it has not acted as a team before.

The win, combined with our recent appointment to assist the NMC, will enable us to further expand our investigative offering to run alongside our market-leading advocacy team.”

The work the team provides involves investigating regulatory cases, within the areas of education, healthcare, accountancy and legal fields. They also aid with prosecutions, which come about as a result of their investigations.

Bradley Albuery, the practice group leader in charge of client relationships said, “This is yet another huge boost to Blake Lapthorn’s Professional Regulatory team and Regulatory Practice group as a whole.

We now act for more professional regulators than any other firm and this has come at a time when the GDC will be expanding its workload to deal with the increased number of registrants brought about by the inclusion of all dental care professionals on its register.”
