A dentist from Black Isle will face a watchdog hearing after being accused of numerous failings when treating a young patient.

David Naisby, who is registered at Dumbreck near Culbokie, is faced with a list of charges relating to a child patient between January 2010 and April 2014. He is to face a General Dental Council practice committee this month.

Mr Naisby has been accused of failing to undergo dental charting, assessment of caries risk level and treatment planning.

He is also accused of failing to ask for the child’s medical history and is alleged to have failed to provide a treatment plan or hygiene and dietary advice. He is also said to have given the patient ozone treatment without gaining informed consent from the child’s parents, by neglecting to explain the purpose, risks and benefits or alternative treatment methods.

Mr Naisby has also been accused of failing to maintain adequate records of the child’s treatment and care, take radiographs or assess the cause of deterioration in the patient’s teeth.

The GDC panel will consider whether Mr Naisby’s suitability for practice is affected when he attends the hearing in London on August 15th.
