Fourteen members of the dental team showed off the results of their month-long growth as Movember drew to a close; seven of the dentists, five dental laboratory staff, the practice’s stock controller and the accounts manager took part in the national campaign, which is designed to raise awareness of male cancers and to raise funds for cancer research.

The team raised more than £700 during the month of November and they are hoping to reach their target of £1,000 by the end of the year. The group nicknamed themselves ‘the hairy dentists’ and they got into the spirit of the campaign by dressing up in outfits to match their new facial hair; characters included Ali G, Super Mario and Freddie Mercury.

Paul Howlett, a dentist at the practice, said that the campaign had been a great success and everyone was glad that they took part; none of the dental team had participated in Movember before, but they decided to support the cause this year. The campaign is particularly important for Paul, whose father-in-law is currently fighting prostate cancer.

Paul said that the campaign had been great fun, as well as a brilliant opportunity to support a good cause.

Every November, thousands of men in theUKand countries all over the world avoid their razors for a while month to raise money for male cancers.
