BDHF Urges Parents To Remember Dental Checks As Kids Go Back To School

The British Dental Health Foundation has urged parents to remember to take their children for dental check-ups as they prepare to go back to school.

Representatives from the dental health charity, which campaigns to raise awareness of the importance of good oral health, claim that now is the perfect time to arrange check-ups for children.

With so much to organise, uniforms to buy and label and preparing kids for a new class or even a new school, parents may forget to book that all-important check-ups, with rates of decay among young children getting higher, check-ups have never been so important.

A check-up takes just a few minutes but it makes a huge difference to oral health. Dentists are able to spot early warning signs of decay or gum disease, which enables them to treat the child before they start to experience tooth pain, infection and damage to their teeth.

Dental care is provided free of charge to children in the UK on the NHS and parents are urged to contact their local Primary Care Trust for details of practices accepting new patients in their local area.
