Batley Dental Practice Supports Local Charity

A dental practice in Batley has become the first business in the town to lend its support to a charity scheme that aims to support people affected by learning disabilities.

Eclipse Dental Care in Branch Road is supporting Safe Places, a charity campaign run by Mencap, the aim of which is to provide people who have learning disabilities with a network of support to make day to day living easier and to offer help with getting out and about and making dental and health appointments.

The campaign has also been backed by West Yorkshire Police and Metro.

Managing director of Eclipse Dental Care, Jo Roberts, said she heard about the programme through a local traders association and that the practice was eager to get involved and show their support. Practice staff were informed that many people in the area find simple tasks like picking up the phone to make an appointment difficult and the team wanted to ensure that they were on board to help. The practice is ideally located within the centre of Batley and it joins 11 other ‘Safe Places’ in the district of Kirklees.

Jo confirmed that several members of staff have received training over the last week and that they will be a port of call for anyone who needs help or assistance.
