NHS figures have revealed that more children are visiting the dentist in Bath and North East Somerset.

According to the figures, the number of children making regular visits to the dentist is above the national average in the region – with 28,000 kinds receiving care between 2006 and December 2009.

This means that 79.9% of children saw dentists – 10% higher than the national average.

Julia Griffith, of the local NHS, said that it was encouraging to discover that so many children were able to a

ccess care.

She added that while this level of access was an impressive more work needed to be done.

Since 2008 nine new dentists have gained positions at NHS dental surgeries in the region and over the last year two new surgeries have opened.
