Barry Councillor Asks for Answers from Local Health Board Over the Future of Dental Services

Barry councillor Richard Bertin has asked representatives from Cardiff and Vale University Health Board to give a presentation to reassure the public about the future of local dental services.

Councillor Bertin has asked the health board to arrange a public meeting to discuss the future of dental services provided at Barry Hospital. The board has stated that a tendering process is currently underway, but Councillor Bertin is worried that dental services will be cut.

The health board contacted dental patients in the area to inform them of temporary arrangements that would be put into place while a new dentist was recruited. However, Councillor Bertin is worried that people are unaware of what is happening and there is concern that the service will be scrapped.

The independent councillor has also asked questions about the impact of a hiatus in services at the hospital on the local community.

The health board has not yet responded.
