Students in Barrow are celebrating after successfully completing their vocational dental nursing qualifications.

The students, who undertook ‘learn while you earn’ placements at Mint Dental in Barrow celebrated passing their exams to achieve their Level 3 NVQ in Dental Nursing.

The students were able to gain practical skills and get used to the working environment by studying at the surgery. The students also attended classes and lectures at Kendal College during the course as Mint Dental paid both their wages and their college fees. The students also undertook placements at Mint Dental’s other practices, which are located in Windermere and Ambleside.

Now that they have completed the course, the nurses will continue to learn and develop through the Continued Professional Development scheme in order to retain their registration.

Dr Julie Forde, practice manager, said that dental nursing is a very important rewarding career and congratulated the students on their success. Mint Dental is also celebrating receiving a British Dental Association Good Practice Scheme award, which is given in recognition of high standards of patient care.
