Avonvale Veterinary Centres offer free dental checks for pets in March

If you’re a pet owner, you may be aware of the importance of vaccinations and boosters, but have you taken your dog for a dental check of late? As part of a new campaign to raise awareness of the importance of good dental health for pets, Avonvale Veterinary Centres are offering free dental examinations for pets in March.

The group, which has surgeries in Kenilworth, Stratford, Wellesbourne, Leamington, Warwick and Southam, is also offering 20 percent off any further treatment that is required following the dental check-ups.

Vets at the surgeries will be on hand to examine pets’ mouths, and also to offer tips to owners and provide them with useful information and advice.

Gum disease is a very common problem for dogs, and it’s essential for owners to be aware of the importance of taking care of their pet’s teeth and gums. Giving dogs specially designed chews can help to clean the mouth and stimulate the gums, and you can also brush your dog’s teeth at home. Signs of gum disease may include swelling, soreness, redness, and increased pain when the dog tries to eat. In some cases, when eating is uncomfortable, the dog may go off their food.

Clinical director, Mark Taylor, said that it’s very simple for pet owners to take better care of their pet’s dental health, but many owners are unaware that dental diseases can occur in animals.
