The Asian and Pacific dental prosthetics markets is expected to boom over the next five years.

The market, which includes dentures, bridges and crowns, covers South Korea, Japan and Australia and was valued at around £4billion in 2008.

There has been a growing need for dental prosthetics in the region due to aging populations and rising demand for aesthetic dentistry.

The international economic crisis saw the market slow but experts are now expecting it to grow to around £5.5billion by 2015.

Computer aided design and manufacture (CAD/CAM) systems are already playing a major role in dentistry in Asia and the Pacific, and their influence is expected grow further.

Japan accounts for around 80% of the total Asia-Pacific market.
