Are Brits Scared of Going to Their Dentist?

Sample News Big

Ninety three percent of the approximately 1,500 patients surveyed said that they were afraid of having dental work performed, with men being more frightened than women. It is a well-known fact that most people are afraid of the dentist, and this is a major problem in the U.K. People have blamed the shortage of NHS dentists and/or rising cost of private dentists, for their avoidance to seek dental treatment.

It has been revealed that male dental patients were more frightened than female dental patients about visiting the dentist. However, this may be due to the fact that women are more aware and worried about their looks, and are agreeable about going through the discomfort or having their teeth treated. Many cosmetic dental spas now have DVD glasses, massages and chill-out lounges that even serve champagne. So there is nothing to fear!
