Appointments postponed after Columbia dentist leaves

A West Cumbrian dental practice has been forced to postpone appointments after one of the dentists returned home to Spain.

Oasis Dental Care in Maryport has advised patients that their appointments will be rearranged once a new dentist has been appointed after Gustavo Segura Andres returned home to Spain.

Kate Kearslake, manager of Oasis Dental Care, said that the practice had already found a new dentist but it is not clear when she will be able to start, as all new dentists must be approved by the local primary care trust and undergo checks, including a CRB check.

Oasis Dental Care opened in Maryport in 2009 and the practice provides care for 4,500 people; appointments for other dentists working at the practice have not been affected.

Another local practice, Maryport Dental Centre, may be moving to a new site after dentist, Dr Donald Stephenson, applied for planning permission to open a new surgery on Irish Street.
