According to a new survey access to NHS dental care is a worrying problem in parts of the UK.
The study, conducted by the Conservative party, claimed that patients in South Warrington were struggling to get dental treatment from the NHS.
David Mowat, a Tory candidate for the region, said that the research revealed people generally had a positive view of the NHS but found accessing dentistry a problem.
Fifty-six per cent of the 3,000 participants said it difficult or impossible to get NHS dental care, with people from Latchford, Stockton Heath, Lymm and Appleton the worst affected.
Mowat said that health funding for Warrington was among the lowest in north west towns and added that if he were elected he lobby the NHS to increase investment.
He said that it was not right Warrington received less NHS money per person considering health standards were quite poor in the town.
However 45 per cent of interviewees said they had seen an improvement in NHS services in Warrington and 47 per cent they were satisfied with the NHS.
Patients said that they felt that hospital cleanliness and seeing the same GP every time they went to the surgery were their top priorities.
