Would a mouth guard protect my dental crown whilst snorkeling?

Q. I have a front crown and a few weeks ago it came out. My dentist temporarily fittted it back in but I’m going away on holiday before I get if permenantly fixed and would like to go snorkeling. I’m afraid that I may dislodge the crown and lose it. I was wondering if I bought a mouth guard, do you think that would protect the crown and if so what would be the best one to buy.,
A. I would recommend that a mouthguard be made by a dental laboratory-your dentist will take a mould of your teeth and the guard will be made to fir your mouth exactly. Costs can vary from around £30 – £100 depending on the lab/dental practice. Have fun snorkeling!
