Will the root canal treatment affect the appearance of the veneers

Q. Hi Dr, I hope you might be ale to give me some advice. I have veneers on my four front teeth. Unfortunately one of the very front ones has been painful ever since they were done and now my dentist tells me that I need a root canal treatment on this tooth. I am gutted as the veneers are beautiful and I’m worried not only about the appearance of the veneers being spoiled by the rct but also the possibility of the tooth not lasting as long as the others. In your experience, is it likely that a root canal done on a veneered tooth will look worse aesthetically afterwards eg. discoluration etc showing through the veneer? I am ever so concerned and would really appreciate your advice, thank you

A. If the root canal is carried out early then this minimises any chance of later discolouration and the root canal will be carried out from behind the tooth, so really there should be no ramifications later on.
