Why is my face swollen on one side and I have toothache on the other?

Q. my face is swollen on the right but have slight toothache onthe left-why you think that is?,
A. Unfortunately it sounds like you have problems on both sides, the swelling on the Right will not be associated with the pain on the left. I suggest you visit a dentist and have some x-rays taken and to take care of the swelling it sounds like you possibly have an abscess on the right hand side.

Had 7 implants in 1 sitting in India. ever since,3 months, have had stiff, swollen feeling cheeks with some dry mouth. Been to ENT no issues, what could be the problem and treatment? ENT think maybe mussel strain? or intollerence to titanium? Very uncomfortable. NOT PAINFUL!

You need to see your dentist as the swelling could increase and cause an abcess- this can be very painful if left untreated.

Hello, I have an abscess in my tooth, underneath a crown. The tooth has hada root canal around a year ago and is extensively filled. I am receiving antibiotic treatment for the infection but the dentist at Glasgow school ofdentistry suggested waiting to get the tooth operated on until I got back to Australia, my home country. I would much rather get it done immediately though as I don’t want it to flare up while traveling. Could you give me aquote on this type of procedure?

Hi I’ve had a lot of problems recently, After diagnosis of osteoporosis. A tooth fractured and after falled cap and abscess then tooth removed last week, as fracture was deep. Still having a lot of throbbing were the abscess had been. Even although my dentist showed me it after removal. Will it take long to heal and is this pain normal after removal? Is there anything else I can do to aid the healing of the cavity? Thank you

It sounds like an infection of the socket so you might need the socket dressing and antibiotics

A very long time ago a dentist removed my tooth and the following day and onwards I had nasty black thick congealed blood coming from my mouth and nose. I had a gap for several years and then another dentist fitted a bridge which hurt almost immediately for some time. I put up with the pain as I could not face having a large gap but now many years later and living in France my dentist removed what appeared a fairly large piece of pointed metal which he presumed to be part of a tool It had been left in my jaw with the original bridge fitted to it and which took 1hr 45mins to remove! Also, beyond the metal object which was actually ‘in’ my jaw; was some red stuff which appeared to be a type of rubber which had been rammed in my jaw beyond the object. I have had X rays up the gazoo and exploritory examinations and even new bridges; but nobody can find where the pain is coming from or what is causing it. My jaw where the original tooth came from is now concave. PLEASE can any of the expert dentists help me or suggest anything. I am in constant pain and have been for so many years I have accepted it as part of my life.. Thank you.

I’m sorry but without proper diagnostic tests I can’t really tell you what has happened here. It could be a neuralgic type pain and would be worth asking for a referral to a specialist maxillo facial surgeon.
