What causes gums to turn black?

Q. I would like to know what causes gums to turn black and if the situation can be reversed.,
A. It really depends on what you mean by “black” there can be so many causes but i really can not advise you unless I see you.  Go and see a dentist.  Some ethnic backgrounds have darker gums, if you have metal restorations in your mouth they can cause gums to go darken.  You need to go and see a dentist and have them examined.
