Veneers or zoom2 teeth whitening for a smile lift ?

Q. Hello Dr Safeer, i am considering cosmetic dental surgery possibly veneers, or the zoom2 whitening system. To be honest i have thought about this for about 4 or 5 years now but always put if off because my teeth are actually not that bad. i guess i just want that extra lift a perfect smile has to offer. i need some advise regarding which procedure i should go for, as i don’t want to spoil my existing teeth.. please help. thank u. Z

A. Hi Z,

I get asked this a lot, and the way i deal with the question of veneers or teeth whitening .. is i look back and assess it as follows.

Are you unhappy with the shade of your teeth only or are you unhappy with the shade of your teeth and the shape of them?

If you are simply unhappy with the shade then whitening will address 90% of the cases i deal with. If you are unhappy with the shade as well as the shape then Veneers or composite bonding will take care of this.

In both situations i always recommend that you have the whitening done first. The reason being that following the whitening you may be surprised by the results and just want to stop there. This will also help ensure you get a nicer shade on the veneers should you have them done.

With regards to the whitening options . There is now Zoom Advanced which is better then the Zoom 2. Following that you have 2 options. If you just want the quick 1 hour Zoom alone or Zoom 1 Hour Insurgery with home whitening. This will give you a broad range in which you will get a whiter result without it looking too white.

Whilst having Whitening or veneers is an irreversible process, whitening is something which doesnt harm the tooth, whilst a veneer in most cases involves some form of preparation.

I hope i have helped you, but please feel free to contact me should you have any further questions.

Regards
