Value your advice on replacing tooth after root canal?

Q. I have had a root canal on my bottom front tooth but I am still having problems with the nerve below the tooth. I am thinking of having the tooth removed (its discoloured now) and having a bridge fitted. What would you recommend ?,
A. Thanks for your questions, I would recommend that you discuss the prognosis for the tooth with your dentist, and if they feel that the chances are slim then I would recommend a bridge as the best solution to close the gap you would have following an extraction. You may also wish to consider a dental implant, as this would relieve the need to prepare the healthy teeth on either side of the gap. If the dentist feels that the prognosis is good, then he may recommend that you havethe tooth crowned, as this would not only protect the tooth, but would also improve the appearance. I hope that this will help.Kind RegardsDr Kailesh Solanki
