there was not fitting period and the bridge was cemented the same day

Q. I just had a bridge put in last month, but it has yet to feel right, food keeps getting stuck between my gums and bridge, there is a slight gap,and on the inside you can see a gray/pink area where it looks like it should go up further. there was no fitting period, he put the bridge in and cemented it same day. i Feel it just is not fitted right, what do I do to fix this problem. can it be fixed?

A. If its a permanent bridge with a porcelain covering you cannot add to the existing bridge in the long term. If the bridge was fitted immediately following an extraction this situation is not abnormal and should have been explained before the fitting. It is normal for the extraction site to remodel & shrink over about 6 months during this time the bridge can be left a little ” high & dry”. A final bridge is made 6-9 months after extraction once the site has stabilised. The only alternatives iin the immediate period after extraction are a denture or leaving a space.
