The X-ray shows decay, should I get it treated now?

Q. My dentist sees some decay between 2 of my teeth, but only with a xray..They recommend drilling and filling..Should I let them do it..It seems very early I mean they only can see it faintly on the xray..,
A. A good xray is a better diagnostic tool than waiting till it hurts. Rob

I have just been to the dentist and have been told that WITH this xray they THINK they see slight decay… They want to remove a bit of my tooth to see the severity of the decay if any then either put a filling or whatever. I have already had a filling and it went horribly wrong when it came out a couple days after it being put in. this guy is saying he sees SLIGHT decay. I dont understand its so frustrating becuase i only get my teeth pains when i drink cold drinks and it was really bad a couple weeks ago but i have been using sensodine regularily and the pain is gone… pretty much vanished but popps up SLIGHTLY ever so slightly now and then but very rarely. I do not want a filling and make problems worse for myself in the long run especially if the filling comes out like the first time. Im just very scared. What do i do???
