Is it normal for the price of invisalign aligners to vary quite considerably across the UK?

Friday, December 3rd, 2010
Q.

We live in South Wales and have been quoted £3,250 for Invisalign treatment for my daughter. Looking on-line including this site, the treatment is advertised considerably cheaper. (Example::#1 Invisalign® Provider
£1750 All Inclusive October Special Free Consultation & 0% Finance) Can you clarify if it is normal for such pricing to vary across the UK? I would really appreciate your advice. Thanks.

How much should it cost to have capped teeth corrected?

Thursday, December 2nd, 2010
Q.

About 20 years ago I had the front 4 teeth capped on my top row. At the time of treatment I got an infection which shifted from tooth to tooth eventually leading to the dentist having to drill a hole in the back of the tooth to release the pressure/pain. Eventually it settled down but it has left a lump on my gum and the tooth below has shifted down making it look unsightly and the tooth is loose. The caps are also thick looking and they look like horses teeth making it unbearable for me to smile. I visited a cosmetic dentist about a year ago to see if I can put this right as it has destroyed my confidence and he quoted me £7,500 which would include xrays. I can’t afford this amount. Can you give me any advice? Thanks.

After an x-ray I was told I will need root canal treatment and have been referred to a specialist. Why is this?

Wednesday, December 1st, 2010
Q.

I have recently been told, following routine xray/check-up, that I need root canal treatment for a front upper tooth which is part of a bridge.
She said even though I am symptom free I may be ok for 1 or 10 years but this needs doing.
She also said I need to be referred privatley as she does not have the equipemtn due to the bridge involvement.

WHY?

Can I have a bridge fitted for a crowned tooth that has a hair line fracture?

Wednesday, November 24th, 2010
Q.

I have a crown on my right canine tooth, the root has an airline fracture,i have been to a private dentist who has taken several x rays and impressions,i was expecting him to say i could have a bridge, but he has said the root should be surgically removed. I also have 3 other crowns the left canine being one of them and the same has been suggested for this the root is not damaged on the left side.A plate with false teeth, I am in a state of shock there is no way I could tolerate a plate.Should I get a second opinion?.

Should I get invisalign braces or a six month smile program?

Wednesday, November 24th, 2010
Q.

Hi, I am 24 years old. I have been looking into having my teeth straightened for some time now. I am really unhappy with the appearance of my smile. I have had a consultation with an orthodontist and following x-rays and impressions I have been told that I have over crowding on both upper and lower teeth, my two front top teeth stick out almost 7mm more than my bottom front teeth so I am self conscious of this. I have a gap where one of my molars has been removed and my dentist said that this would cause a problem with invisalign braces. He advised that I have an implant after the orthodontic treatment. I was quoted between £5000-£6000 for invisalign or £2500 for fixed braces with clear brackets and told that they would be fixed for 12-18 months. As I am a teacher I am keen to look into the least noticeable options. Would you recommend the six month smile program? Ho much would it cost in the UK? I live near Cardiff. Thank you very much.

How long does it take for the pain to subside following a root canal?

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010
Q.
Hi, I have just recently had root canal treatment on 2 molars (one top right and one bottom right). I was experiencing toothache and my dentist identified abscesses on Xray. However, since the root canal treatment I have been in as much pain as before. It is an intense pain that can only be allievated with painkillers (brufen and co-codamol). The root treatment was completed 2 weeks ago but my dentist said the treatment was successful and it can take 6 weeks for the teeth to settle down. However, I am concerned that I am still in this much pain. Is this normal? Also, may there be any underlying reason for why I am getting numerous dental abscesses at one time? Many thanks.,

My routine x-ray at dentist showed an infection in my molar teeth but the dentist said there’s nothing to worry about. Is this true?

Friday, November 12th, 2010
Q.
I have just been for a routine check up and on xray of a suspect tooth found that I have cronic infection of 3 of my molar teeth which had been root treated about 10 years ago all at the same time. Two were filled and one was crowned. I have had no systems from these teeth since they have been root treated. My dentist has told me that as there are no systems not to worry about it and leave the teeth alone. I am quite concerned about what i have been told. I am right to just leave them or should they really be re-root treated. I would be grateful for your comment,
