The enamel on my front teeth has worn out and one of them is chipped

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009
Q.
Hi, I’m a 28 year old woman. I have noticed through the years that the enamel has worn away on my two front top teeth and I have a little chip on one of them. No one else in my family has the problem. I do like a fizzy drink and did drink alcho pops a lot when younger… What do you recommend I have done? My dentist said that I could have white fillings on the front of my teeth to protect them and for cheapness or I could have veneers? Obviously they are expensive. How much would it be roughly? I am concerned as they don’t look too nice and would like to get it sorted soon. Thanks

My teeth are wearing away I assume because of night grinding. Is there anything dental surgery or wizardry that can help?

Q.
Hello, I am 38 and my teeth (I assume because of night grinding) have been steadily wearing away. They are now all much smaller than they should be which really reflects in my smile. I no longer have incisors as they are the same height as the rest of my teeth. Is there anything dental surgery or wizardry that can help? Many thanks

I was considering getting Lumineers

Monday, December 1st, 2008
Q.
Hi I was considering getting Lumineers as I feel really that I lack confidence due to the current condition of my teeth. Looking on the internet, I couldn’t find any information on the cost of this or where I could get it done. I live in Edinburgh, Scotland. Is it really expensive? Because I am 18 years old and am going to University next year, I’m not sure I could afford really expensive treatment, but I really want something to change the way my teeth look, especially my bottom ones which are really ground down and mishaped and jaggy, they are all also quite discoloured and yellow-ish. Also in a unrelated question, I have had braces in the last year, which have since been taken off. The orthodontist applied a metal bar like thing on the back of my top teeth to keep them from separating , and said that I dont need to go back to him , and that the bar will come off itself. Is this true and how long does it take, as I think it is causing a metallic taste in my mouth. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi I have a huge concern with my teeth

Monday, December 1st, 2008
Q.
Hi, I have a huge concern with my teeth. I have recently been confirmed as having enamel hypoplasia. Can you tell me anything about the etioliogy and pathology of this condition??? The destruction to my teeth is universal and quite serious. I am only 27 years old and this is a major problem for my self-esteem. I have seen a dentist specialising in oral diseases and aeasthetic surgical procedures and he sees my only option as having crowns put on all my 28 teeth (Yes! the damage is chronic!) I am just seeking a second (objective!) opinion based on this diagnosis and advice for treatment. Oh, and would the NHS provide this treatment? (Im assuming not). And another compounding issue is that I am a (struggling) student, financially independent from my parents. Speaking hypothetically, how much would this operation cost in the UK (with 3 root canal treatments also)?? Are the new ‘Procera-zirconium’ crowns the best on the market, and which crowns have the greatest resilience and longevity?? Thankyou.

Hi Komal, I have really bad acid erosion and my teeth have worn down and started to chip away. Is it possible to receive NHS treatment at Guy’s Dental Hospital? My dentist has referred me to another Dental Hospital but it has been months and I have still not had a reply. Many Thanks in advance

I have huge gums and tiny teeth what would surgery cost

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008
Q.
Hi there, I am very self-conscious about my smile. I have huge gums and very tiny teeth, they look like baby teeth still. My bottom front teeth wore away all the enamel from my top two front teeth and I have had essentially fillings put on the back of them to stop them wearing down further. I fear now though, that my bottom teeth are now wearing down even more now against these fliings and they’re tiny as it is! I have a deep bite and when I totally clench my teeth you can’t see my bottom teeth at all. I think I would be a good case study! I think I would need the whole lot done! I think I would need my teeth repositioned, gum surgery and possibly veneers, but I’m no expert. :o) What is your opinion and what would those procedures cost in total?
