I Have A Missing Front Tooth And The Partial Denture Makes Me Ill. How Can I Afford A Dental Implant?

Wednesday, September 24th, 2014
Q.

Hello Marcus. I have lost a front tooth and I’m only in my twenties. I can’t go out any more or see anyone apart from family. My dentist gave me a denture on a plate but there’s no way I can have it in. I’m sick as soon as it’s in my mouth. I’m a single mum with 2 children and I’m getting worse everyday. I was very bubbly and out going and working with loads of friends but now I’m a different person all because of one tooth. My dentist doesn’t provide implants or anything like that and I have got a family wedding coming up but I’m not going because of this. I can’t pay for an implant weekly because I can’t get credit anywhere. What should I do?

I Would Like My Two Front Teeth Corrected Before I Get Married. What Type Of Aligner Would Work For This?

Thursday, March 20th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Hughes, I need to correct my two front teeth a little as they are slightly upward. I consulted the doctor and he said I need to undergo surgery of my lower jaw but as I am getting married toward the end of the year. I need something like a fast working aligner as one private doctor suggested to me. So if you could kindly help me, and suggest to me the cheapest procedure to work before my marriage. Ideally I would like the treatment to take 6-7 months. I hope you can help and I look forward to your reply.

I don’t agree with my dentist’s opinion on the shade of my new crowns or his behaviour. Can I go elsewhere?

Thursday, January 3rd, 2013
Q.

Hi
I recently visited a dentist as the crowns on my front teeth were looking pretty awful and had a black line around the top. As I was going to an important wedding I said maybe it would be best to wait until after Christmas but he insisted that they would be finished in time. The dentist suggested changing all four at the same time as he could then possibly alter the teeth slightly, making them a bit smaller. I said that would be great , I told him that I was happy with my teeth just hated the black lines. He went ahead and did the impressions and then told me that I shouldn’t have such white teeth as white teeth were for young people, I didn’t think I was that old at 51. I told him that I just wanted the same shade that I already had. At the end of the visit, I asked if I could look at the shade that he was thinking of doing and I was horrified that he had picked a dark yellow colour. I told him that I didn’t like it and he suggested that I go and visit the technician. The technician suggested A2 which I was more happy with as my originals were A1 and B1 but had obviously darkened a bit over the years. I told him that I would be happier with A1 but wouldn’t mind if he could maybe do something between A1 an A2. The technician agreed. My husband then visited the dentist for a filling and the dentist said that he wasn’t very happy with my choice of shade and made this very clear to my husband. I have now had a letter from him saying that the crowns won’t be started until I write a letter confirming that this was my decision. I’m really unset as I now have a wedding to go to with really awful temporary crowns and I really don’t want to go back to him but will I be able to go elsewhere now as he has the impressions of my original crowns. I haven’t paid him anything yet. Where do I stand? I would be really grateful for a reply.

What braces treatment should I get before my wedding?

Wednesday, November 21st, 2012
Q.

Hi, I am 21 years old and getting married in 9 months, I have been considering braces for the past couple of month. I had them when I was younger so there isnt much to be fixed but it’s for my own self confidence. Can you tell me how much I should budget for the cheapest option available? I shouldn’t need them for that long but have I left it too late to get something done before my wedding?

Thanks

Is is possible to have my retainer off for my wedding?

Wednesday, March 7th, 2012
Q.

Dear Dr Safeer

I have a wedding to attend in May and was wondering wether you think it is ok to have the front 6 brackets taken off for three days during the wedding. I am 8 months into my treatment and had four premolars removed in November. I am currently in the process of having the gaps closed so have powerchains on.

I read somewhere that it was not a good idea to have the brackets removed during this period as it takes several months for the bracket to develop a strong bond to the tooth to hold the powerchain.

Would having this done prolong my treatment time and by how long?

Thank you

Can I have Lumineers fitted in time for my wedding?

Monday, July 11th, 2011
Q.

Hi There,
Im getting married in October abroad and am looking into lumineers as im a little worried about the shaving to my teeth to get it prepared. I was told by a dentist I visited that lumineers wouldnt work on the top as my teeth are big enough for the size of my mouth so would need to do a bit of teeth shaving. I am looking to have something done and I dont think tooth whitening would work as I have stained teeth not through smoking as I dont smoke ive just always had from childhood now into adulthood. I would like a beautiful smile for my wedding can you tell me how long it would take to have veneers/lumineers from first consultation how many weeks and how many times would I need to visit? Please could you let me know opening times or surgery I would only be able to make it on Saturdays, what is the first available appointment you have?

What is the difference between Clearstep and Invisalign?

Monday, July 11th, 2011
Q.

CLEARSTEP VS INVISALIGN

I have a few questions about invisible braces:

What are the differences between the two?

How long will it take? I have been prompted to take action as I am getting married at the end of the year and although from the front my teeth look quite straight from the side they look really uneven. If I started it asap would it make much difference by December? I am happy to continue for longer, I would just like some difference by then.

How much does it cost? Which one is more cheap/expensive?

Are the effects lasting? I had a metal brace as a teenager that improved my teeth a bit but I don’t think it was kept on long enough. I would be willing to wear a retainer if it keeps my teeth nice.

Is Clearstep a suitable alternative to cases where Invisalign would work?

Does Clearstep require attachments to the teeth the same as Invisalign?

Could you suggest me a good professional cosmetic dentistry expert in Oxford?

Thank you in advance for your attention
