Should I get my brittle teeth removed for dentures?

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009
Q.
I have very brittle teeth partly because of not taking care of them as a child. they constantly break and even start cutting into my gums and tongue. my dentist says he cant remove them and needs to save them. do i have no other choice than a slow rebuilding process or can i just get them removed for dentures?

I have had an all porcelain crown placed on a my front tooth and 3 veneers on either sides. The colour of the crown is slightly whiter than the veneers is this normal? what can be done to fix large gap after porcelain veneers

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009
Q.
Good Morning, I wonder if you can help me? 10 years ago, I had porcelain veneers put on 5 of my top teeth(I have a missing right lateral incisor) The reason for the veneers, was to close up the gaps in between my teeth and to make the gap from the missing tooth smaller. However I still have a large gap, due to the missing lateral incisor and I am wondering what can be done to fix it and give me a symetrical smile. I have been told that I may have to wear braces, but I wonder if there is anything else that can possibly done?

Any alternative to place temps after removing old crowns and veneers

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009
Q.
I am having some old crowns/veneers replaced. I have had a consultation and wax-up. My next appointment is to have my old crowns/veneers removed and temps. fitted. What if I don’t like the temps. Will they be what the permanents are going to be like and will I have any control over the shade and shape etc. at this stage. I always thought that temps were made and you could look at them before old crowns removed and be happy with them before proceeding. I am puzzled. Look forward to your reply

Need to numb again for reshaped or filed down broken teeth

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009
Q.
Hi there. I had to have a tooth refilled yesterday as half of an old one came out whilst eating an apple. Everything went ok, but today above my teeth is very sore and the bridge of my mpouth is very sore, I presume this is because it’s the same place i was injected to numb the area?? I am a very nervous patient, and my main concern is that the replacement filling feels too big and is stopping my teeth come together properly. Is this something that will sort itself out, or will i need to get it ‘reshaped/filed down’? Also will i need to be numbed again for this to happen? thankyou

Any other alternative for broken front top tooth then built the tooth

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009
Q.
Hi, last year my 10 year old son fell and broke his front top tooth abouth half way. We took him to the dentist who built the tooth back up. He had no problems for the first 9 to 10 months but recently he has been getting pain in his tooth. We took him back to see his dentist ( a different one as the first one had left the practise ) and they said that he needs root canal surgery. I asked if there was another alternative to this and was just given a no! Just wondering if you could give me any other options which could possibly be done. Thanks.

Is gold trimmings works for several gaps in front teeth

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009
Q.
Hello, I have several gaps in my front teeth.I’ve had everything from dental bonding to now porcelian veneers put on the four main ones, but still the gaps remain. I remember seeing older men with gold trimmings around their teeth and wondered if that would work in my case to fill in the spaces.

Is there any alternatives for veneers for my darkened front tooth

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009
Q.
Hi i’ve got a darkened front tooth, that came out about 22 yrs ago, i pushed it back in myself, it has started darkening over a period of some yrs and is now looking bad especially in photographs where it shows up very bad i don’t like smilling for photos anymore. My last visit to my dentist told me that it was a lack of oxygen getting to the tooth that is the problem but he would not take it out or crown it as it was still healthy otherwise. i would love to get it capped or have a veneer over it but how can i go about getting it done, privately would seem the answer but the cost is off putting, are there any other alternatives to this ? how can i persuade my dentist to do the work for me ? any advice would be good
