I have been suggested dentures and implants do I have other options?

Friday, November 27th, 2009
Q.
Hi I have recently suffered a fracture to my upper right canine which had a cantilever bridge attached with a pontic for the lateral incisor. I have the same arrangement on the left upper side and two veneers on my central incisors. This is because I never got my permanent lateral incisors. My dentist says the only option for me is a denture or implants. I really don’t want to go back to having a denture but I don’t think I can afford implants. Would it not be possible to have another type of bridge using my front incisor and the canine for support? As What other options could I have? thanks

I want to have dentures but I am concerned too.

Friday, November 27th, 2009
Q.
I have chronic gum disease and have done for 20 years or more. Have gone through deep cleans but find it frightening, nerve wracking, emotionally upsetting all due to hate needles, loathe dentristy anyway ie: smell, tools etc and get in a panic to the extent I vomit whenever have finished suffering the treatment. I have asked for my teeth to be pulled out and replaced with dentures of which the dental hospital have actually listened. I am awaiting news from them now as they have to get an xray from my dentist and take it from there. I have thought about having dentures for years. Cannot go through another treatment of needles and scaling etc. I just can do it. It just keeps coming back and I am always being told off and made out that I am not doing what they ask and yet I do, I do everything and yet still the gum disease comes back to haunt me. My teeth are disgusting. Stained and gums very very sore. I have bone showing where the gums receded that much. Teeth are wobbly also. I feel a freak. I have done for ages and hate smiling. When you have dentures I know it is drastsic and I know it is a sore process etc but I want it done. What I want to know is can they say take out the top row of teeth and fit dentures and then do the bottom row of teeth so as to avoid having no teeth at all. I really want an end to this horrible problem and am getting very depressed over all of this.

I would like to replace my dentures with implants is it possible?

Friday, November 27th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I have full upper dentures, I have had them for years. I am 41, and would like to know if it is possible for me to consider dental implants? I seem to find conflicting advice on the Internet, and I am unsure if it is worth pursuing any further. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks

Q.
I have had a root filling and a gold cap put over the tooth. The tooth keeps getting infected and it may be better to have it out. I have a 5 tooth bridge one tooth away form from the cap and if nothing is replaced it could undermine the bridge. Ive been told that a good option is to have an implant but the cost is 2,000 which i cannot afford can it be done chaeper or have you got any suggestions?

Does implants not fix a denture with bone loss issues?

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009
Q.
I am due to begin work for a full upper denture on 17/11 due to the loss of all byt 4 of my upper teeth. This was due to gum disease causing bone loss, passed down from my parents! My dentist tells me that an implant to fix a denture in would not stay put due to bone loss? Is this correct? Glad I found this site, and someone to answer my question, thank you!

Dentures fitted causing pain in the gums

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009
Q.
Hello I had ValPlast dentures fitted and got a pain in the upper gums on wearing them. I persevered before 4 months before I had a tooth pulled from that side and thought it might be the reason and it would get better over time. Now the other side hurts as well. Sometimes one side hurts and I can chew on the other and another time the other side hurts. I thought it might be cavitations? I recently did a heavy metal detox. Do you have any idea what could be causing this?

I want your suggestion on wearing dentures

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009
Q.
I currently wear dentures but the lower was originally made with a bar on a few of my teeth; but then one side came out of the gum; so the dentist removed the other side; so I’ve been wearing the lower using the pad. Now, I did go to a dentist who made a new complete set; however, I can not wear them-the lower-the first time the front teeth was almost laid out flat; so I couldn’t bite, chew, talk or sing; so he had it redone & then it was straight up way back behind my top; so I can’t chew-they just sit in the container. What should I do? They were very expensive to not be worn. The dentist did offer to refund half ot the money but at that time I refused. Should I sue him because if I call or go by; there is usually no one there.
